Hair Variables (what do they mean)in Natural Hair
I pray all is well. This article is being written to introduce you and the world to a new term "Hair Variables". I'm asked all the time "how long a style was last", "can I get this style", or "will this style look good on me". Well that all boils down to your "Hair Variable".
Hair Variables: adj. Texture, wave pattern, porosity, Density, Elasticity, length, strength, hair line, and hair health. These are your variable. Hair components that affects the way the a style turn out and how long it will last. This differs from person to person.
Whenever you are considering a style these are all things to be considered. Products can be too heavy on your tresses depending on what your variables are. It can determine everything from shampoos to conditioner, and even how you dry and blow dry your natural tresses.
People we tend to go to our stylist with an idea of what we want in our heads. We have either seen this on someone else (9 times out 10 times) or something we thought of in our heads. Nothing is truly wrong with either, as long as we have "realistic expectations" of what can be achieved. See, when you look at a style on someone else, if it's editorial then you never know what products, pins, glue, type of hair, etc. was used to achieve that style. Only you and your stylist know what hair variables of yours are present or not for the style. When you see someone in person and you like their style, you have to take these variables in account. When used and analyzed properly, they are very useful. Your twist outs, flat twist, and even when it comes to adding hair will look a lot different and professional. When you consider your hair variables, you will know how to make thin, and fine hair look more full and less spacey. PLEASE NOTE: YOUR TRESSES CAN ONLY DO, WHAT YOUR TRESSES ARE ABLE TO DO.
Hair variables affects the way a color will process on your hair. It can be the difference between a vibrant and or dull color. When coloring your hair if some of your hair variables are weak, it can cause breakage, shedding, or loss of hair PERIOD. I know the thought of that is scary. That is why it so important to add this term to your vocabulary. It makes a difference when conversing with your stylist. Naturalites it is very important to use the correct "terminology" when expressing what you want, that way you will ensure that you get what you want.Last modified on
